All the other great ideas

Some thoughts I'd like to save from my classmates' work:

  • technology is a social and political phenomena , not to be solely identified with the material artifacts
  • present technology in a nonsensational way
  • incorporate the use of professional software in the classroom
  • Using media can be intriguing for alliterate students
  • create a balance of yesterday, today, and tomorrow
  • create a class Facebook page!

Stuff I left out that I'd like to incorporate:
  • technology as form of communication (email, comments, blogs, etc)
  • " " " " storage and recall
  • " " " " text (posting articles/online textbooks/etc as part of curriculum)
  • limitations of technology and how to cope (e.g.: not all students have access to computer, availability of computers in classroom/school)

English gibberish

What English sounds like to non-English speakers:

Intro to tech paper

The tools and resources used in the classroom over time have been reflections of the technologies available to both teachers and students. As those technologies have changed, so has the classroom. Teachers who can successfully incorporate these new tools and resources are able to at once enhance their teaching and guide students through the often murky waters of technologies such as the internet, streaming video, and digital projects. As a future educator, I see that the most important role of the teacher in the area of using technology in the classroom is one of guidance. As a guide, my role is to see clearly the purpose, means, and outcome of using technology. The purpose of using technology in the classroom is to enhance learning, and to reflect in the classroom "the world [students] know and see as their own." The means of achieving this is through sheltered and guided use of audio-visual, internet, and computer program resources. The expected outcome is that students will become savvy users of technology who can think critically about, and engage responsibly with, the world beyond the classroom.
